About Us

Established in 1924 by Raymond L. Southwick, the Southwick-Good & Fortkamp Funeral Chapel has operated from its present location at 3100 North High Street since 1938. Originally the historic Clinton Chapel, which was constructed in 1838, and served as a church and as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

All of our full time staff lives on the funeral chapel grounds, providing close attention to all details and arrangements for those we serve.

We offer the largest facility of its kind in the Clintonville community, and the only funeral home in north Columbus to offer a dedicated church-like chapel.

The facility features the Chapel with pews providing a tasteful atmosphere for funeral and memorial services of all faiths. The parlors or visitation rooms are designed to provide a welcoming and home- like atmosphere, with couches and comfortable chairs, not just a room full of folding chairs that may be found in other funeral homes.

Centrally located and easily accessible from I-71 and State Route 315, the Southwick-Good & Fortkamp Funeral Chapel is in the geographic center of Franklin County, and offers facilities to accommodate large or small services.

At Southwick-Good & Fortkamp, we go beyond the average funeral home.  In addition to our chapel, we offer a tranquil lounge area with a fountain.  We offer a grief resource library, as well as videotapes for use by families with small children.  A community room (with full kitchen), which seats about 25 adults is available to families on a first come first served basis.  Families are invited to share a meal or refreshments between calling hours or following the funeral service.  Food can be catered or prepared by family, friends, or church groups.
